A new Bioeconomy Recovery Task Force will bring together a diverse and independent group of finance, policy and sustainability leaders to ensure the country’s economic response to the COVID crisis is effective in its continued support of jobs, infrastructure and clean economic growth.

The Task Force will work towards ensuring that the benefits of the Opportunity Zone Program are expanded to include biofuels, bioenergy, biochemicals and bioproducts. It will discuss ways to link Bioeconomy Development Zones to Opportunity Zones, and explore issues involving unclear guidelines for Qualified Opportunity Zone Projects. The Task Force will provide participants the opportunity to recommend and advise Treasury and the IRS on clarifications needed to the Opportunity Zone guidance that has the potential to unlock billions of development dollars for bioeconomy manufacturing facilities.

The recommendations of the Task Force will be the result of thoughtful consideration and input from all of the members and therefore will not fully reflect any individual Task Force member’s point of view—they will be collective recommendations for action.
